PRACTICAL INFO

At the heart of our summit is the “All teach, all learn” principle. We believe every attendee has just as much to offer as they do to learn.

Say goodbye to passive panel discussions! This is about dynamic, participant-driven sessions where you have the chance to share your thoughts in small group sessions and learn from the wealth of knowledge by other participants.

FAQS

WHOM AM I GOING TO MEET?

You will spend two days with like-minded people from across Europe who see the value of solutions-oriented reporting. There will be experienced solutions journalism practitioners, trainers, educators and journalists as well as those who haven’t tried this approach to reporting yet, but feel they need a change in their reporting practice to better serve their audience.

What am I going to learn?

Everything you always wanted to know about solutions journalism! Everyone in the room is an expert and we can learn so much from each other - that is the great thing about the unconference. It’s not about the staged speakers and panels, it’s about everyone being part of a community.

You will learn from your peers about their experiences, views, ideas, and lessons from practicing solutions journalism while they will learn from you. You can also propose your own topic to discuss in one of the break-out sessions - seek the answers to your burning questions from the expert crowd!

Will I be able to feature my work? Can I present at the event?

We will definitely provide space at the summit for people to talk about and share some of their work. But, as we said earlier, we won’t have any traditional panels. Instead, we will be designing an agenda that maximizes peer-to-peer participation and small-group conversations. We hope (and expect) that you will come to the summit with questions you want answered, ideas you want to share, and challenges that you want help addressing.

How do I participate in the design of the agenda?

We will send out a survey to all confirmed attendees closer to the event to help us shape an agenda that best meets your needs. Tell us what you’re an expert in, what you’re looking to better understand, and how we can help.

Any other questions to be answered? Please write to us at sojosummit@tol.org.
